What I Do
Mathew Anderson
Greetings! It’s a pleasure to have you visit my online home. 👋
As a trailblazing communications and content creation professional for over a decade, I've greatly enjoyed building and maintaining an organization's public presence through first-class communications.
My experience includes website and social media management, building and managing a team of communications staff, connecting the public with developers and press, organizing outreach campaigns, developing online content plans with AI-assisted tools for critical launch dates, establishing press and partner relations, and being the trusted face of the company for its public platforms.
Inspired a diverse public for organizations around the world through innovative digital strategies and compelling creative campaigns
Community Management
I have over a decade of experience managing digital communities, ranging from building them from the ground up to enhancing established ones with customized growth and retention needs. My experience also includes overseeing volunteers and collaborating with department teams on key initiatives.
Digital Communications
My digital communications experience combines general public community engagement, strategic business public relations, and how to create and manage content for all the involved entities (website development, social media management, web and email newsletters, graphics creations, etc). An important knowledge base here is how to develop all of these pieces together in a 'big picture' view.
Public Relations
While my career started in managing communities directly on the ground, I have since expanded to managing more of an organization's strategic relations with press and partners. This experience involves a mix of relationship management and content creation (press releases, newsletters, partner toolkits, etc).
Content Development
Over the years, I have developed a wide range of digital resources, including hundreds of supportive images, videos, livestreams, webinars, press kits, nonprofit toolkits, and more. These materials have been shared across various platforms, such as websites, social media, email newsletters, and external partner outlets like press websites.
Website Management
Extensive experience developing and managing websites (like this portfolio) and related platforms (social media). Skills include primary use of HTML, CSS, and SEO with secondary experience using PHP and JS.
Team References
Mathew is as strong a Community Manager and as strong a team member as I have worked with in my 40 years of creating games. I truly hope we get to work together again, and the sooner the better.
Mathew not only worked tirelessly on the community aspects that were in his initial job description, but absorbed new work and tackled new problems with ease, making the work of all around him easier and more efficient. His pleasant disposition was the icing on the cake.
He was a great asset to the Portalarium team, and will be a great asset in any team he works with.

Richard Garriott (CEO)
Mathew is a self-starter that never sits idle. He cares deeply about the work he does, the relationships he is entrusted with, and the health of the community and it's members.
In addition to being a great community manager, Mathew handled a wide variety of tasks which included arranging focus test groups, creation of tutorial videos, website maintenance, story creation, interviews, press management (light PR work), email blasts, and a host of other public-facing tasks for our company. He was also very good about keeping an eye on the health of the community in the off-hours.
If you're looking for someone dedicated to his work, this is the guy.

Ted Morris (Executive Producer)
Over a three year period, I worked closely with Mathew at Petroglyph on the Rise of Immortals and Battle for Graxia games. During this time, Mathew took full ownership of community management for both games, encompassing website design, forum management and moderation, social media management, in-game moderation and CRM. As the overall project lead for these games, I worked with Mathew on a daily basis.
In the Community Manager role, Mathew went above and beyond the call of duty, establishing a close relationship with the development team in order to gain insights into upcoming game features and content, and to collect and organize community feedback which he then provided regularly to the team.
Mathew also played a key role in our marketing and PR activities for both games in the areas of creative design, scheduling and relationship management.
In addition to the above, Mathew utilized his excellent organizational skills to manage our external team of community moderators, and also to schedule a table of community events (such as tournaments and other competitions) to help keep our players engaged with the games.
I have no hesitation in giving Mathew my highest recommendation. He would be a boon to any organization in the areas of social media, communications and community management. Additionally, I believe that his strong organization skills would lend themselves to a production oriented role, should Mathew chose to pursue that goal.

Steve Wetherill (Executive Producer)
Mathew is an amazing Community Manager. He is the perfect blend of both community events cheerleader and moderator.
He is always willing to do whatever it takes to make sure the community is healthy and happy and supported.
He is an incredible ambassador for the community to the developers and vice versa. Any team would be lucky to have him.
